The dream began in 1995 for joseph jacobson, clearing tables at the iconic med deli.  a South windermere native and a fourth generation charlestonian, chef joseph jacobson has come up through the ranks in the food & beverage industry over the last 15 years.  Joseph's wife and partner in the smokehouse, allison jacobson, grew up on nearby edisto island and has an equal passion for the industry deep rooted in her southern heritage.  From scheduling catered events, running the family coffee shop, to managing fine dining restaurants, allison has been able to hone her skills in the hospitality industry and is now co-creator at black wood smokehouse.

black wood smokehouse features seasonal produce and seafood, emphasizing locally sourced items from the surrounding charleston area.  Chef Joseph jacobson brings to the table his lifelong appreciation of smoked items: pork, fish, vegetables, and everything in-between.  The creative menu goes hand-in-hand with the innovative cocktails created by black wood smokehouse's beverage director, remington baird.  house-made cocktails, along with our hand selected beer and wine collection are showcased at the smokehouse.
